Emersonmade

As I was blogging two days ago about Fashion Forward.  I couldn't resists the opportunity to blog about Emersonmade's spectacular  new home in  New Hampshire.  Emerson and  her partner Ryan moved from Manhattan to a seaside town in New Hampshire in 2008.  I'm through and through a city girl, I love the vibe, the energy, all the culture in a city, but I have been thinking otherwise these last couple of years. If I ever settle down or have kids( if that day ever comes) I want to live in the country, and have access to a city.  Emersonmade's classic country home with the hints of city outlines and details, makes me want to move to Napa immediately, and pass the step of moving to SF.  But like Emerson and Ryan, I need my feed of a city before I go settle in the country.  Emerson and Ryan are duo operation team that take photos and model their own clothing.  Look how well thought out their home is and how adorable they are.......

They have also started a line of fine linens. I need to order a table runner pronto! Love how rustic and personalized you can make them. They would go wonderful on my rustic dinning room table if I had one.

When they moved and bought the house it was in shambles and they renovated it. I've always dreamed of doing that for my home, how fun. Project!
Love when people personalize their house whether it be a sign on the door, mailbox, or below their house address( ryan's brother made the wonderful sign)

emerson collects a lot of vintage clothes which some are hanging on the lefft.
view into the kitchen
Look at the raw wooden beams and the plank floors that give it the country feel, but they put in the industrial fridge with the industrial lights to give it a modern feel.  Love the mix and match of styles.
The  sink was found on craigslist for a bargain.  My favorite part of the kitchen is the  butcher board they built to prepare all their food. And for their anniversary ryan bought emerson some ironstone pieces which started the collection and then took off from there.

This is where they eat because it's close to the fireplace and open to the kitchen.  They have driven on all over the eastern seaboard picking up stuff, and the chairs in the picture are from their excursion.  I love the linen table runner(sold at Emersonmade)  and the edison lights above the dinning table.

OMG, to die for pantry! Not only is it very organized but they do not have any unrefined ingredients because they don't eat, sugar, flour, or any processed ingredients( My husband would be in heaven).  This is a goal of mine to have only healthy stocked foods in my house.
The fireplace is incorporated with all  original hardware from a previous non functioning fireplace so it looks like it did 130 years ago. And the nautical map on the mantle is traces the move from Manhattan to New Hampshire.  Again something personal to make it "their" home, I love it!
This is their library and everything in the room except the couch is from their excursion along the eastern coast.  When they walked in the floors were originally covered in non-slip paint with sand bits in it, then they had it stripped and found this old heart pine, which i wouldn't mind having in my apt.

This is another view of the library, How delicious are the book arrangement on the table! emerson says that this room faces the north so there is not direct sunlight but a glow from the trees outside, and that the  lamp is a beaded chandelier, that look like little full moon behind the beads because it holds about 30 little light bulbs.

I'm loving them even more because they are into music. This is their music room, which is still in working progress. And the colorful map is something they picked up for a $1 in Rome.  They have 2 man music parties in here. I will definitely have a music room in my house, it's a must!
This is the picture of their living room that the Nest featured. This room is splendid!
The sink in the Laundry room was bought by an old man who collected beautiful sinks in his barn way out in the woods. Emerson covered the old farm table with linen and padding to make it an ironing table. She is so creative and original, I'm inspired!  The flags above are sold at Emersonmade.

These beds date back to emerson's grandmother's childhoo.  Her mom and aunt used them as girls. Love the bright yellow.  Again I see the country rusticness in the furniture, then pops of city chic with the sheets and the bright yellow.
This chair is from emerson's grandmother
look at all the details!

Their bedroom. Below the beside table you can see the books covered in kraft paper are the emerson's sketches and scheduling for the Emersonmade line.

Fashion Forward

I am always looking for the new trend of just new talent and of course clothing falls in that category.  I love clothing  that are unique and that no one can tell where you got it.  Don't get me wrong, I love the store Anthropologie, but I don't like the fact that people can point out that I got it from there.  Sometimes I like loud colorful prints and other times I like the simple yet understated pieces that are monochromatic.  Interior Design and Fashion are very much intertwined in that way that all the patterns, shapes, and color make a room feel a certain way or person look a certain way. I am always intrigued and willing to try something new and different! That is why I am always on the look out for new artists whether it be in interior design, fashion, or music.  If I had to described my style it would be a combination of these three style icons I have:  Olivia Palermo for her socialite, vogue, NY style, and bold, Natalie Portman's glamorus, gorgeous, yet understated, but gorgeousness when she dresses up,  but simple and classic with a free spirit twist when she dresses down, and love Sienna's bohemian, edgy, free spirited style.  While I was looking at etsy, magazines, and other blogs I came across these fabulous newer brands;  Sheridan French, Emersonmade,  and Alix of Bohemia.  I  want the a piece of each of these ladies work in my closet!

Sheridan French was driven to design at a young age, she designed her own ball gown at the age of twelve with the help of her great grandmother and has never looked back.  While studying in Europe and obtaining her Masters degree, she continued to pursue her passion for design by participating in fashion shows.  She worked behind the scenes, designed her own collection, and even modeled which led her to a position at Prada press office in London. All of this drove her to one day have her own label.  And now back in her home town of Fort Worth, Texas with a family of her own,she is the fashion editor of Fort Worth's Texas magazine and has her own chic line of womenswear that is southern eclectic.
She is adorable as the clothes she creates, take a look....

If I ever have a daughter I want to name her Emerson so I was naturally inclined to see what Emersonmade was all about.  This company is run by Emerson herself  and her partner Ryan.  Emerson does all the photographs, styling, design, content, collages, and artwork associated with Emersonmade. Ryan takes shots of Emerson and is Emersons RightHandMan in all matters of life art and work.  They believe in celebrating the uniqueness of the individual, the joy of being alive and all the smallness that makes up the Big Beautiful. Look at some of their country chic, city smart looks......

Alix Verley-Pietrafesa grew up between her mother’s ceramic studio and her father’s closet. The offspring of an Italian textile legacy and generations of French artists, it was never a question of whether Alix would continue this obsession with aesthetics, but rather which medium she would choose to work with.  Her first collection was realized in tandem with her dissertation on Alberto Giacometti, the Bohemian sculptor, while pursuing her Masters in History of Art at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.  Alix then moved to New York, then to London, and finally to Hong Kong, where she is currently living. Here she produces both unique pieces by hand and small runs of garments. Pervasive influences are her parents in the 1970’s, her mother’s sublime hippie sensibility and her father’s impeccable ability to mix patterns, the Psychedelic sixties and the Summer of Love. The designer’s unconventional life dictates the Alix of Bohemia collections; pieces are created for the life of a glamorous nomad-- living and loving, largely and loudly. Look at some of her boho chic work.......

Well I am amazed at how these ladies have followed what they love and incorporated into their clothing.  They all started with an idea in their small nook of their area in this world and look what they have become. They are an inspiration for me to follow what I love to do and when you set your mind to it this is what happens.  Fabulous work ladies!
